Our Leadership

Sean Hennessy – Principal

Sean Hennessy has been designing architectural lighting for the better part of a decade and has completed hundreds of projects spanning 5 continents.  His experience has concentrated on retail lighting design, but he has enjoyed opportunities to consult on projects for residential, commercial interiors, restaurant & hospitality, houses of worship and numerous other desciplines.   His retail clients have included Burberry, Cartier, Chanel, Diesel, Dior, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Tiffany & Co.  Recent accomplishments have included designing Dior’s new luminous glass facade lighting on 57th Street, the exterior of Temple Emanu-el in New York, and lighting design for Burberry’s 6-story LEED-certified Chicago flagship, which utilizes more than 1.5 miles of linear LED lighting!

Sean began his lighting education at age 6, receiving years of instruction from his father, a 40+ year veteran theatrical lighting designer.  Sean received his bachelor’s degree in Theatre from The Ohio State University and then returned to New York in 2004 to pursue theatrical and  architectural lighting.  After two years freelancing and working as Lighting Designer for Lighting Management, Sean joined the staff of Barteluce Architects in 2009 (now Callison Barteluce).  Sean designed the lighting for the majority of their retail and hospitality projects, and his successes led to the creation of a in-house lighting design department, where he acted as Senior Designer and Lighting Studio Director.

In 2011, Sean relocated to Portland, OR and opened his full service West Coast lighting design studio. He continues to consult for architects, interior designers, end-users and retailers worldwide.  He is a member of the DLF/NY, IES, A.R.E. and RDI.
